DHAKA, Nov 10, 2025 (BSS)- The 18th "THM Day and Career Fest", organised by the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) of Dhaka 
University (DU), was held today at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) with 
various daylong programmes.

DU Treasurer Professor M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attended the discussion 
session as the chief guest.
 
THM Chairman Prof Shariful Alam Khandaker presided over the inaugural session of the event with Prof Santosh Kumar Deb as the convener.

Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof Mahmud Osman Imam and Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed were present on the occasion.

Additional DIG of Tourist Police Bidhan Tripura, Managing Director of 
Citizens Bank Alamgir Hossain, Executive Director of Dhaka Regency Hotel and Resort Shahid Hamid, and President of the Tour Operators Association of 
Bangladesh Mohammad Rafiuzzaman joined the panel discussion part at the 
event.
 
Director of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Mohiuddin Helal, CEO of Unique 
Hotels and Resorts Ltd. Shakhawat Hossain, Secretary and Presidium Member of PATA Bangladesh Chapter Taufiq Rahman, and Managing Director of Chuti Resort Ltd. Alamgir Ferdous were also present, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury highlighted the 
department's role in developing skilled manpower and promoting sustainable 
tourism in Bangladesh.

"Participation of creative and capable youths would help strengthen the 
national economy. Such joint initiatives between academia and industry would 
enrich students' knowledge and professional skills," he added.
