DHAKA, Nov 7, 2025 (BSS) – The two-day 4th international conference and mushaira is going to begin on November 9 with the theme 'The Role of Iqbal and Nazrul Islam in National Awakening'.
The main conference will begin in the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Auditorium on the first day and on the second day the articles will be presented at four different venues on the DU campus.
The Urdu Department of the Dhaka University in collaboration with the Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT) will jointly conduct the conference.
Professors, poets, and researchers from 22 countries, including Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, the United States, Egypt, Canada, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Pakistan, India, Iran, Turkey, Nepal, Malaysia, Mauritius, Japan, and others, will participate and present their research papers during the two-day event.
A total of 127 research papers will be presented across 18 sessions at four different venues both in-person and virtual at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium.
Urdu Department chairman Prof. Md. Golam Maula will preside over the inaugural session.
DU VC Prof. Niaz Ahmad Khan will attend the event as the chief guest, while Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan will be the special guest.
Dr. Md. Abdul Aziz, Chairman of BIIT, and Mahmudur Rahman, Editor of The Daily Amar Desh, will attend the inauguration as guests of honour.
Dr. Fatema Hasan, Dr. Humaira Ishfaq (Pakistan), Sarwar Ghazali (Germany), Prof. Kazi Ahmad Abdur Rahman (Egypt), Amir Mehdi (UK), Gausia Sultana Noori (USA), Prof. Khwaja Muhammad Ikramuddin and Prof. Aslam Jamshedpuri (India), Poet Sakib Haruni (Nepal), Wali Alam Shaheen (Canada), Faisal Nawaz Chowdhury (Norway), Sadaf Mirza (Denmark), Hina Khurasani Rizvi (Sweden), Arshad Farooq Hashmi (Finland), Ali Bayat (Iran), Mokhaya Abdur Rahman (Uzbekistan), Ludmila (Russia), and Mahmudul Hasan (Malaysia) will join the conference among the foreign guests.
A vibrant Mushaira and Gazal evening featuring prominent poets from home and abroad has been scheduled on November 9 evening.
The conference aims to explore the intellectual and cultural influence of Allama Iqbal and Kazi Nazrul Islam in inspiring national awakening, interfaith harmony, and human values.
