30 teachers, 44 students of DU get Dean’s Award

DHAKA, Nov 06, 2025 (BSS) - Teachers and Students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded Dean's Awards. 

The awards were presented to the students and teachers at a ceremony held at the university's Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building today. 

A total of 44 students from five departments of the faculty received Dean's Awards. In addition, 30 teachers were given Dean's Awards for research books published in the country/abroad and original articles published in recognized journals.

Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dean Professor Dr Upama Kabir presided over the program, while DU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest. 

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Saima Haque Bidisha and Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury were present as special guests. 

Scientist Dr. Mobarak Ahmed Khan, inventor of the golden bag and former scientific adviser of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, spoke as the Dean's Award speaker. 

The departmental chairmen announced the names of the students who received the Dean's Award. 

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr. Upma Kabir announced the names of the teachers who received the Dean's Award. 

Deans of various faculties, chairmen of various departments, directors of institutes, vice-chancellors, faculty teachers and guardians were present at the event.

DU VC Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said, "We are very happy to be able to evaluate talent. At the same time, we were able to keep the guardians with us. In fact, you are also a part of us.” 

He said, “We must remember that many people contribute to success. You have maintained the long-standing tradition of Dhaka University. This is our pride. However, we must remember that egoism should not be awakened in us.” 

The VC said, “Despite many limitations, we have been able to recognize education to some extent through this event. However, it is important to give time to family along with studies. The balance between family and academic life will further enrich the future.”
