DHAKA, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) – Eight political parties led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today submitted a five-point memorandum to Chief Adviser of the interim government, urging him to fulfill their demands by November 11.
In the memorandum, the eight parties called for the issuance of an order to implement the July National Charter and holding a national referendum on it within November.
An eight-member delegation headed by Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar handed over the memorandum at the Chief Adviser’s residence in Jamuna this afternoon.
Adviser for Industries and Housing and Public Works Adilur Rahman received the memorandum on behalf of the Chief Adviser.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Matsya Bhaban intersection around 2 pm, Mia Golam Porwar said the interim government should accept the five demands before November 11 to show respect to the spirit of the July Charter.
Earlier in the day, activists and leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and six other Islamic parties gathered at Shapla Chattar and began a march toward Paltan.
The procession reached Matsya Bhaban around 12:30 pm, where police briefly obstructed their advance. Later, the delegation left for Jamuna to submit the memorandum to the Chief Adviser.
Addressing a brief rally at Paltan before the delegation’s departure, Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, “If necessary, we will sacrifice our lives again, but we will not let the spirit of July be trampled. If straight fingers can’t get the ghee, we will bend them—but we will have it.”
Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar and other leaders also addressed the gathering before the march resumed toward Jamuna.
They also demanded the introduction of a proportional representation system in both houses of parliament for the next national election, the creation of a level playing field for all political parties to ensure free, fair, and acceptable polls, visible trials of crimes including oppression, genocide, and corruption by the previous fascist government, and a ban on the activities of the Jatiya Party and the 14-Party Alliance.
The eight Islamic parties include Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Khelafat Majlish, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, Bangladesh Khelafat Andolon, Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA), and Bangladesh Development Party (BDP).
