Bias to any political party during elections won’t be tolerated: DMP Commissioner

DHAKA, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has directed all members of the force to discharge their duties with utmost impartiality during the upcoming national elections. 

“Weakness or bias toward any political party or individual during the polls will not be tolerated,” he said.

The DMP Commissioner made the assertion while addressing officers and members of the DMP at the grand welfare meeting at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh in the capital today. 

“The February general elections are very important for us...The people of this country were deprived of voting rights for long. We must fulfill our responsibility so that the common people can exercise their voting rights without any hindrance,” he said. 

The DMP chief further stated that those involved in the rigged 2018 national elections must be brought to justice. 

Mentioning that the current state of the police force had been achieved through many sacrifices, he urged officers to act with caution when dealing with illegal gatherings and to avoid any actions that could create distance or misunderstanding with the public.

He also listened attentively to statements from police members of various ranks and assured them to solve their problems. 

During the meeting, the Commissioner announced that if any DMP member is injured while on duty, the DMP will bear the full cost of treatment. 

He also encouraged all members to take care of their health through regular sports and fitness activities. 

Addressing senior police officers, he stressed that they should always show compassion toward their subordinates.

Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md. Sarwar and Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operation) SN Md. Nazrul Islam also spoke on the occasion. 

 Other senior officials present at the event included Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Md. Shafiqul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali and Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Zillur Rahman.

The meeting was also attended by DMP Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners, and 850 police members of various ranks.
