DHAKA, Oct 15, 2025 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today ordered the authorities concerned to produce former Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Saiful Islam before it on October 30, 2025, in a case filed over crimes against humanity committed in the port city during the July Mass Uprising of 2024.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order after allowing a prosecution plea for issuing a production warrant.
"Saiful, who was detained on February 12, 2025, is now in jail as he has already been shown arrested in a case filed with Chandgaon Police Station in Chattogram," prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman told the tribunal.
The prosecution wants to show him arrested in ICT BD Miscellaneous Case No. 10/2025 - Chief Prosecutor vs ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury and others.
According to the prosecution, preliminary evidence suggests Saiful's direct involvement in the killings of martyrs Md Wasim Akram, Foysal Ahmed Shanto, and Md Faruk in the Muradpur area under Panchlaish Police Station during the 2024 uprising.
He is also accused of arresting, torturing, and harassing hundreds of people in 25 false cases during that period.
Earlier, on October 12, the tribunal had set November 12 for submitting the probe report in the case lodged against former lawmaker from Chattogram-6 constituency ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury and others.
