Martyrs Abrar, Abu Sayeed are two beacons of same spirit: BRUR VC

RANGPUR, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali has said that martyr Abrar Fahad and martyr Abu Sayeed are two beacons of the same spirit. 
 
"Both of them are symbols of patriotism, justice and independent thinking. Abrar awakened the nation with his pen and courage, and Abu Sayeed proved with his life that this nation will never bow down to injustice again," he said. 
 
He said this while addressing a discussion on "From Abrar to Abu Sayeed: Sovereignty, Hegemony and Transition" arranged in memory of Abrar Fahad, a symbol of anti-Indian aggression and hegemony, on his sixth death anniversary, as the chief guest.
 
The BRUR unit of the Anti-Oppression Student Alliance organized the discussion meeting on Tuesday night on the second floor of the university's central cafeteria, a press release said this evening.
 
The Vice-chancellor said that the supreme sacrifice of these two young martyrs, Abrar Fahad and Abu Sayeed, has laid a new foundation for nationhood. 
 
"We must work together to ensure that no more young people are victims of injustice in the future," he said.
 
Chaired by Shahriar Sohag, a student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Khadimul Sardar, a student of the Department of Mathematics, moderated the discussion.
 
Registrar of BRUR Dr Md Harun-or-Rashid and its Director of the Office of Students' Affairs Professor Dr Md Elias Pramanik were present as special guests at the discussion.
