Over 24.59 lakh children to get typhoid vaccines in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - A month-long free typhoid vaccination campaign for children aged 6 months to 15 years will be conducted from October 12 to November 13, 2025 in the district. 

Over 24.59 lakh children will be covered under the campaign. This includes 16.32 lakh children in 15 upazilas of the district and 8.27 lakh children in 41 wards of the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Jahangir Alam told BSS. 

The health administration has set a target to administer typhoid vaccines to 154,749 children as part of the Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025.

Out of the total, approximately 14.85 lakh students have already registered in the city and district for the vaccination drive scheduled on October 12.

It has been announced that all children aged between 9 months and 15 years, including school students from Class 1 to Class 9, are eligible to receive the vaccine during this campaign.

The campaign will run for 18 working days until November 13.

The vaccination drive started at 8 am and will continue uninterrupted until 4 pm on working days in the city and district as part of the Typhoid Campaign-2025.

A total of 4,831 temporary vaccination centers were set up by the Civil Surgeon's office. The CCC established 1,321 temporary centers in 41 wards to carry out the programme.
 
Over 20,000 volunteers and health workers, including 4,848 from the CCC, were engaged in the typhoid prevention campaign-2025, providing vaccines to children aged 9 months to 15 years.
 
Civil Surgeon Dr. Md Jahangir Alam stated that the government is offering the vaccine free of charge and urged all registered children to attend the vaccination camps, dispelling any rumors about the vaccine.
 
Dr. Jahangir highlighted the significance of vaccination in preventing the disease and called for the media's effective role in disseminating accurate information about vaccination to all segments of society.
