RANGAMATI, Sept 30, 2025 (BSS) - Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Ambassador (Retd) Supradip Chakma has visited several Puja mandaps here in the district town and exchanged greetings with the organizers, visitors and devotees.
During the visit last night, the adviser called upon all to celebrate the festival in a peaceful and harmonious environment, according to a ministry press release issued today.
He said the Sharadiya Durga festival is a symbol of peace, tradition, and communal harmony, and participation of people of all faiths and communities will make the festival even more vibrant.
Responding to questions from journalists on the recent violence in the CHT, the adviser said that sustainable peace and development in the region require economic prosperity and quality education. "If the hill people were educated and aware, many of these problems would not arise. We need quality education that teaches people to discern right from wrong and keeps them away from provocation," he added.
He wished to spread quality education among the hill communities so they could build their future and bring positive change to society.
During the visit, at the Akhanda Mondoli Upasana Mandir in Gorjantoli and the Tablachhari Kali Mandir, he inquired about the arrangements and security measures for Durga Puja.
Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Md. Habib Ullah, Adviser's Private Secretary Khandakar Mushfiqur Rahman, Superintendent of Police Md. Farhad Hossain, Executive Officer of Rangamati Zila Parishad Khandakar Mohammad Rizaul Karim, officials concerned, and local dignitaries accompanied him at this time.
