DINANJPUR, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS) – Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) AKM Shahidur Rahman has called upon all to remain cautious about creating chaos by spreading rumours on the social media over Durga Puja celebrations.

“All have to be cautious about creating chaos by some vested groups through spreading rumours on social media ahead of Durga Puja, the greatest religious festival of Bengali Hindus,” he said.

The DG of the elite force made the call while talking to journalists after visiting Rajbathi Central Durga Puja Mandap in the district town.

“All the law enforcement agencies including RAB have been put on high alert so that the Durga Puja celebrations would complete in a festive and peaceful manner,” he said.

Giving details, he said that the Durga Puja will be celebrated in 31,526 puja mandaps across the country from September 28 to October 2.

Security surveillance and adequate lighting have been ensured at all Puja Mandaps round-the-clock as part of the government measures for peaceful celebrations of Durga Puja, he said.

Apart from the RAB, police, Ansar, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) and military personnel have also been entrusted with ensuring security for celebrations of the festival, he said.

But, he alleged that some ill-mentality people have been working secretly in a bid to create anarchy during the Durga Puja celebrations.

“Fourteen or fifteen isolated attempts have been made in this connection and the law enforcers have been able to take prompt actions to foil the attempts,” he added.

RAB-13 Commander Lt Col Monjurul Karim Pradip and Dinajpur Police Super Md Marfat Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.
