NARAYANGANJ, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has directed authorities concerned to ensure that no innocent person is harassed in connection with false cases linked to the 2024 July Uprising.

"We are working to ensure that no innocent individual is harassed in false cases," he told reporters following a views exchange meeting with local administration officials at the Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner's office on Sunday.

The Home Adviser confirmed that steps are underway to withdraw false cases as quickly as possible, and that a new committee has been formed to identify and review such cases.

"We have already issued verbal instructions to all relevant authorities to act accordingly and prevent any harassment of innocent people," he added.

In response to a question about security threats surrounding the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, Jahangir Alam assured that there are no such threats at present.

To ensure a peaceful and festive celebration, the government is deploying law enforcement personnel, including police, RAB, military, BGB, and Ansar, alongside volunteers from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, beginning August 24.

He added patrol teams are actively monitoring security at puja mandaps nationwide.

Additionally, seven volunteers from local puja celebration committees have been assigned to each mandap to assist in safeguarding the venues.

"All puja mandaps have been instructed to install CCTV cameras to maintain round-the-clock surveillance," the Home Adviser added.
