Condolences pour in for National Professor Rafiqul Islam

DHAKA, Nov 30, 2021 (BSS) - Tributes and condolences continue to pour in for National Professor Rafiqul Islam who passed away today at a city hospital.

Immediately after his demise, people from all walks of life as well as different political parties and leaders expressed their shock and sent condolences.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed their profound shock and sorrow at the death of National Professor Rafiqul Islam.

Besides, in separate condolence messages, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury condoled the death of Rafiqul.

Ministers and state ministers expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of National Professor Rafiqul Islam.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mohammad Mahbub Ali , State Minister for Information Dr Md Murad Hassan, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell , State Minister for LGRD Swapan Bhattacharya, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, State Minister for Labor and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud, State Minister for Planning Shamsul Alam, State Minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam also expressed deep shock and sorrow, in separate condolence messages, at the death of Rafiqul.

Chairman of Standing Committee on the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Hasanul Haq Inu, Chairman of Standing Committee on the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Wasika Ayesha Khan, Central 14-party coordinator and Awami League Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam, Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Anwar Hossain Monju, MP, and General Secretary Sheikh Shahidul Islam also  expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Rafiqul.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) General Secretary Shirin Akhter and Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md Abul Mansur, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman , Chairman of University Grants Commission Dr Kazi Shahidullah and Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam mourned his death.

Chief Coordinator of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury also expressed deep shock at the death of Rafiqul.

The Ekushey Padak and Independence Award recipient Professor Rafiqul Islam was the President of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee.
