'Economic freedom' of masses achievable by tourism: Mahbub

   DHAKA, Nov 30, 2021 (BSS) - State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism 
M Mahbub Ali today said that tourism can be one of the means to attain 
'economic freedom' of mass people as dreamt by Father of the Nation 
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

  "Bangabandhu's visions on the development of Bangladesh tourism sector have 
become true through Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, as she (Sheikh Hasina) 
created the tourism friendly atmosphere in the country," he said. 

   The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled 
"Development thoughts of Bangabandhu: potentials of Bangladesh's tourism and 
Sonargaon hotel", a press release said. 

   The living standard of the people has improved due to the economic growth 
of the country and that escalating the number of domestic tourists, Mahbub added. 

   The seminar was organized in a city hotel as part of the celebration of 
the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur 
Rahman. 

  Economist Dr Selim Jahan, Civil Aviation and Tourism secretary Md. Mokammel 
Hossain, Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (EPRC) - Chairman 
(Secretary) Satyajit Karmaker, Bangladesh Porjoton Corporation Chairman Md. 
Hannan Mia, Senior advocate of Supreme Court Dr Bashir Ahmed, Hotel 
International Ltd. Managing Director Dr Aminur Rahman Khan and Dhaka 
University Tourism and hospitality management department professor Dr 
Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan spoke on the occasion, among others.
