Info sought for white paper on irregularities, corruption in ICT sector

DHAKA, Aug 25, 2025 (BSS) - The White Paper Preparation Taskforce has sought 
information from the public in order to investigate and analyze 
irregularities and corruption in the ICT sector during the period from 2009 
to 2024, as part of efforts to draft a comprehensive white paper.

The taskforce is chaired by internationally acclaimed development economist 
Professor Dr M Niaz Asadullah.

Formed with the directive of the Chief Adviser, the White Paper Preparation 
Taskforce has now entered its second and final phase of operations. In this 
stage, the taskforce's tenure has been extended by an additional three 
months, and three new expert members have been inducted to strengthen its 
investigative capacity.

The newly-appointed members are: Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Chairman 
Prof Rezwan Khan, Prof of Computer Science and Engineering at BRAC University 
Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman and Prof of Computer Science and Engineering at 
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Rifat Shahriar.

To ensure active participation of citizens and stakeholders in the final 
stage of the white paper preparation, the taskforce is calling upon the 
public to submit information, opinions and recommendations.

In particular, information regarding irregularities in project approval and 
implementation, such as tender manipulation or politically influenced project
