DHAKA, August 12, 2025 (BSS) -The first batch of road safety training for teachers of various schools of Dhaka at the Traffic Safety Education Centre (TSEC) was successfully completed on Monday by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The training was organized at the centre located at the DMP Training Academy. 

This training is part of the Dhaka Road Traffic Safety Project (DRSP), a joint initiative of DMP and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). 

The initiative aimed to provide teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills on road safety, so that they can spread awareness among their students and contribute to developing responsible road users of the future.

The training used interactive learning methods, which included road safety simulator tools, traffic signs, videos of real roads, and hands-on activities. 

The teachers learned in detail about pedestrian safety, bicycle and vehicle safety, and the importance of traffic signs and road markings. Modules like quizzes, road sign placement activities and traffic hazard identification helped to enhance the skills of teachers.

DMP Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic-Admin, Planning and Research) Anisur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the event.

In his speech, he highlighted the importance of road safety education in the school curriculum. 

He said that road safety education among students will have a lasting impact as they will spread this knowledge among their families and friends.

Rahman thanked the teachers for their active participation and urged them to spread this education in their schools.

The teachers who participated in the training appreciated the initiative and promised to spread this education among their students. 

They expressed their interest in organizing practical training sessions for students at TSEC in the future, which will further reinforce the topics learned in the classroom.

The project aims to improve traffic safety in Dhaka and enhance the capacity of DMP. The establishment of TSEC continues efforts to increase road safety awareness among the youth of Dhaka. 

DMP aims to introduce road safety education in all schools in Dhaka, so that safe and responsible road users are developed in the future.
