DHAKA, July 31, 2025 (BSS)- The daily Bangla Bhumi Chief Editor and Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) permanent member Saidur Rahman Rimon died of a heart attack yesterday.
He was 54.
Rimon left behind his wife, a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He felt severe chest pain around 11 am while on professional duty in Rajendrapur area of Gazipur. He was first taken to a nearby private hospital and later to Gazipur Shaheed Tahuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital, where the duty doctors declared him dead at around 2 pm.
A namaz-e-janaza of Rimon was held in front of DRU after Jhor prayers today.
Later, DRU members led by its general secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel paid floral tribute to late Rimon.
DRU former president Sakhawat Hossain Badsha, Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association acting president Omar Faruque Alhadi and general secretary MM Badsha, among others, spoke at the event.
In a message of condolence, DRU President Abu Saleh Akan and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel expressed deep shock at the death of Saidur Rahman Rimon.
They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Rimon will be buried at his Jabra village in Ghior upazila of Manikganj district today after a namaz-e-janaza.
