DMP arrests 186 crime suspects in special operation over 24hrs

DHAKA, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a special operation has arrested 186 suspected criminals in different parts of the capital in the past 24 hours.    
 
The DMP in a statement has reiterated commitment to ensuring the overall safety and smooth movement of the people of Dhaka Metropolitan areas.
 
 Police in 86 operations across the DMP arrested 186 crime suspects, said the statement. 

 Among the arrested are one robber, five thieves, 13 drug dealers, two fraudsters and 12 warranted accused as well as criminals involved in other crimes.

Eleven mobile phones used in various crimes, a bus and cash of Tk 13,180, 1.40kg of marijuana, 1,065 pieces of Yaba, 74 bottles of Phensedyl and one gram of heroin were seized during the operation.

 In these connections, a total of 33 cases were registered with various police stations of the DMP.

 As part of the move to protect DMP from any untoward incident, police have intensified measures around the capital city to maintain public safety and law and order.

To ensure foolproof security across the capital city, check posts and patrol activities have been enhanced.

 According to the Crime Command and Control Center of DMP, 471 patrol teams performed duties in two shifts for public safety in 50 police stations of the DMP from 12:01 am to 11:59 pm on Tuesday. 
  
Out of these, 259 teams performed duties at night and 212 teams performed duties during the day. The patrol teams include 212 mobile patrol teams, 20 foot patrol teams and 27 motorcycle patrol teams.
 
In addition, 66 police check posts were operated by the DMP at various important and strategic locations to enhance security in the metropolitan area.

Meanwhile, 2,845 cases are being filed by the eight traffic divisions of the DMP for violating traffic laws in the capital Dhaka.

Of these, 282 vehicles have been dumped and 92 vehicles have been wrecked.

The DMP has vowed to continue its campaign to maintain traffic discipline in the Dhaka metropolitan areas.
