DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said BNP would initiate the rehabilitation of families of martyrs if they come to power.

"If BNP is elected in the upcoming national election with people's mandate, we will implement BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman's commitment to rehabilitate the families of martyrs. We will make every effort to rehabilitate the families of children who have lost their guardians," he said at an event organized by 'Mayer Daak' (Mother's Call) in Banani of the city.

The veteran BNP leader also said that even if those who have been victims of enforced disappearance cannot be returned, there is still an opportunity to do something for their affected families. He warned that everyone would be held responsible if nothing is done for them.

Advocating for a secure state for children as part of state reform, Mirza Fakhrul remarked, "We seek a change in the state, a structural change in the state. We want reforms, and I don't believe those reforms will be of any use if they don't lead to the overall development of the people, help build the future of our children, or provide them with a safe and secure life."

At the time, BNP Secretary General also accused the government of not doing much for children or the rehabilitation of martyr families.

Regarding missing individuals, he added, "Despite a commission on enforced disappearances submitting a report, there has been little progress in finding the missing."
