Advisers sit below, while families of martyrs on stage at BRUR discussion

RANGPUR, July 16, 2025 (BSS) - The nation witnessed an unprecedented display of respect for the truly deserving individuals at the July Martyrs' Day discussion held at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) today. 
 
The family of martyred Abu Sayeed and other martyrs' family members sat on the stage, while the guests, including two advisers of the interim government, sat in the audience along with the vice-chancellor of the university who chaired the function.
 
The rare event of showing due respect to the family members of the martyrs of the July-August student-public uprising created an extraordinary feeling of patriotism among hundreds of students of the university, visitors and journalists as a symbol of patriotism.
 
The BRUR authority organised the discussion to observe the martyrdom anniversary of Abu Sayeed, the first martyr of the anti-discrimination movement, and the 'July Martyr's Day'-2025 to commemorate his sacrifice. 
 
With BRUR Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali in the chair, Md Mokbul Hossain, father of martyred Abu Sayeed, attended the discussion as the chief guest on the stage.
 
Relatives, including widows and parents of the 22 martyred families of Rangpur attended the discussion as special guests on the stage.
 
Two advisers of the interim government attended the event as guests of honor sitting in the audience row.
 
They are Adviser to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Professor Dr Asif Nazrul and Adviser to the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Syeda Rizwana Hasan took their seats in the audience.
 
Besides, UGC Chairman professor Dr SMA Fayez, its Member Professor Dr Tanzimuddin Khan and Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Education Siddique Jobayer were present as guests of honor sitting in the audience.

Deans of all six faculties of BRUR, Proctor Dr Md Ferdous Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal and officials from various departments were present. 
 
Earlier, BRUR Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali with the teachers and officials of the university visited the grave of martyr Abu Sayeed and paid their respect in Babanpur village at 7:30 am. 
 
Later, they returned to the university campus and wore black badges and brought out a huge mourning rally at BRUR campus at 9:15 am with participation of thousands of students of the university, teachers, officials and employees.
 
The mourning rally was taken out from the South Gate of the campus and ended at Shaheed Abu Sayeed Gate after encircling the city's Modern intersection. 
 
Later, the two advisers with other guests laid the foundation stone of the martyred Abu Sayeed Gate and Museum and the martyred Abu Sayeed Memorial Monument at the campus on the first martyrdom anniversary of the first martyr of the July Movement. 
 
Meanwhile, in the afternoon, a painting competition will be held in the cafeteria inside the campus at 3:30 pm and a dua and milad mehfil will be held at 5:30 pm.
