MYMENSINGH, July 14, 2025 (BSS) - The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of
Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has provided scholarships to its 33 underprivileged students.
This initiative aims to support students with financial needs in their
pursuit of a veterinary education.
BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AK Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, as the chief
guest, handed over the scholarship money to 33 students of different years of the Veterinary Faculty at a function held at the conference room of Medicine Department of the university's Veterinary Faculty Building this noon.
Each student was given a sum of Taka 7,500. The scholarships were provided
from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Poor Students Scholarship Fund.
Chairman of the fund and Dean of the Veterinary Faculty Prof Dr. Md. Bahanur Rahman presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries Prof Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sardar and the university's Student Affairs Advisor Prof Dr. Md. Shahidul Haque were present as special guests.
The speakers at the event said scholarships are being provided from this fund so that financial hardship does not hinder any student from pursuing their education. They also announced plans to expand this fund further in the future.
Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine said, "We will be able to provide scholarships to more students from next year. We hope that these students who are receiving scholarships will also work to enrich our fund in the future."
The VC said, "Providing scholarships for poor students of the Veterinary
Faculty is a great and commendable initiative. On the model of this fund,
other faculties and district-based student organizations should also be
encouraged to take such initiatives."
In addition, if those who are academically first in each semester can also be brought under the scholarship, then the students will get more encouragement and will increase their interest in good results, he added.
