4 widows of British Armed Forces' members receive cash from RCEL

   DHAKA, Nov 18, 2021 (BSS) - The money received as grant from the Royal
Commonwealth Ex-Services League (RCEL) of England was distributed among
widows of four deceased members of the British Armed Forces under the
Patuakhali District Armed Services Board.

  Bangladesh Armed Services Board (BASB) Director General Brigadier General
Mohammad Quamrul Hasan distributed the cash among the widows while visiting
the District Armed Services and Medical Dispensary in Patuakhali today.

   The British government has been providing quarterly grants of Tk16,000 to
each of widows of the members who joined the British Armed Forces before
1945.

   Only those who have a monthly income lower than the mentioned amount come
under the programme.

   Currently, the programme contains 40,000 members in 48 commonwealth
countries around the world.

   A total of 11 ex- members of the British Armed Forces and 149 widows are
receiving this facility in Bangladesh.
