DHAKA, Nov 15, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of eminent writer and novelist Professor Hasan Azizul Haque.

In a message of condolence, he said the death of Azizul Haque, a noted writer, teacher, columnist and intellectual, created a deep vacuum in the field of literature which will never be filled up.  

Prof Arefin said he had scopes to work closely with Azizul Haque when the noted writer was appointed as the Bangabandhu Chair Professor at the Department of History at the Dhaka University.

“I saw he used to lead a very simple life but possessed very high thoughts and liberal mentality,” he said.

Prof Arefin, also chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), urged the new generation to follow the ideals of writer Azizul Haque.  

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
