President asks countrymen to overcome loss caused by Corona jointly

     KISHOREGANJ, Nov 15, 2021 (BSS) - President M Abdul Hamid today called upon all to come forward jointly to overcome the loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

     He said this while exchanging views with "cross-section of people, including people's representatives and professionals, at President Md Abdul Hamid Auditorium at Itna upazila of the district this evening.

     The President said the deadly coronavirus disease largely affected the development of Bangladesh, like other countries in the world, but due to the courageous and time-befitting decision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country's ongoing development works continued more than that of many developed countries.

     Giving a salient feature of country's overall development, Abdul Hamid highlighted the progress during the tenure of the incumbent government, especially the development of haor region.

    He urged the government officials, people's representatives and all concerned to work with sincerity and devotion so that people can enjoy the benefits of this development.

     The President said the progress of development of Bangladesh was initiated by the hand of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and he had started a new horizon in development along with the reforms in each and every sector of the country.

     Hamid said Bangabandhu had taken war-ravaged Bangladesh to a stage of development in only three and a half years. "Hadn't the brutal killings on August 15, 1975 be occurred, Bangladesh could have gone long way more earlier."

     Lawmakers Md Afzal Hossain and Rezwan Ahammad Taufiq and secretaries concerned to the President were present at the meeting.

     Earlier, the President visited the development activities of Itna Upazila Parishad, under-construction power station and various development activities of the upazila including extended buildings and shelters of President Abdul Hamid Government College.

     The President also visited the old Kachari house in Mithamain.
