DHAKA, June 15, 2025 (BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar today said cattle raisers or firm operators made brisk businesses thanks to higher sales of their cows during the Eid-Ul-Azha this year.

“No cattle were imported this year,” a ministry statement quoted the adviser as saying while exchanging Eid greeting with her ministry officials and employees at her office.

She said the ministry and particularly the livestock department extended the cattle raisers and farm owners their hands throughout the past year resulting in adequate production of sacrificial animals.

Akhtar, however, acknowledged that lack of required experience caused some problems in hide preservation despite the supplies of salt free of cost on government’s behalf.

She said rawhide price too was not as high as expected but it was comparatively better than any previous years.
