DHAKA, June 7, 2025 (BSS) - Sacrificial waste management activities started simultaneously in 75 wards of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain inspected the Secondary Transfer Station (STS) adjacent to Kalabagan Shishu Park to see the rapid removal of sacrificial waste.
Local Government Division Secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi and Dhaka South City Corporation administrator Md. Shahjahan Mia, were among others, present at the time.
During the inspection, the adviser said cleaning sacrificial waste in the city is a big challenge.
If the waste is not removed on time, it will make odour pollution and can even cause diseases and germs, he added.
Asif hoped the city corporation will be able to remove all the waste within 12 hours saying this year, the Eid joy of the city residents will not be hampered due to sacrificial waste.
More than 10,000 manpower of DSCC is working in the field level to remove sacrificial waste. A total of 2,079 vehicles, including 207 dump trucks, 44 compactors, 39 container carriers, 16 pay loaders, are is use in 75 wards for waste removal activities.
A control room has been set up at the Emergency Operations Centre of DSCC to manage the sacrificial waste removal activities and round-the-clock supervision is being carried out.
