Agriculture Adviser calls for reasonable price of sacrificial animals

DHAKA, June 4, 2025 (BSS) – Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) has wished of a reasonable price of the sacrificial animals at the cattle markets, where both the buyers and farmers will be beneficial. 

“We want a reasonable price of the sacrificial animals so that both the buyers and farmers will benefit from it. No one will face losses,” he said after visiting the North Shahjahanpur Cattle Market in the capital.

The Home Adviser opined that if the price of cattle hits high, the buyers will be losers and on the contrary the farmers will be loser if their price hits low. 

“The overall management at the cattle market is satisfactory,” he said. 

Steps have been taken so that sick cattle cannot enter into the markets, he said, adding that veterinarians have been appointed to look into the matter.    

Jahangir, also Home Adviser expressed his satisfaction over the management and security arrangement at the cattle markets.

“Appropriate numbers of Ansar personnel have been deployed at the cattle markets to ensure security,” he said. 

The Home Adviser reiterated warning of taking legal action against those who will be found guilty in taking the vehicles carrying sacrificial animals to undesignated cattle market forcibly.
