DHAKA, May 29, 2025 (BSS) – The well-marked low over Northwest Bay and adjoining areas intensified into a depression over the same areas, leading to rainfall in various parts of the country including the capital Dhaka.
According to a Met office bulletin, the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours till 6:00am today, Dhaka witnessed 6mm rainfall while Cox’s Bazar 76mm, Patuakhali 71mm, Hatiya 65mm, Koyra 49mm, Kutibdia 57, Mongla 40, Chittagong 35mm, Sandwip 29mm, Badalgachhi 25, Bhola 24mm, Bandarban 23mm, Khepupara 21mm, Sylhet 20mm, Srimangal 18mm, Barishal 15mm, Sitakunda 17mm, Rangamiti 15mm, Netrokona 14mm, Faridpur 10mm and Aricha 11mm.
The bulletin said the depression formed over the Northwest Bay may move nearly northwards direction and intensify further. Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions and eastern part of Dhaka division.
“Light to moderate rain/thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country,” the bulletin said.
The day temperature may fall by (1-2)°C and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
The country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 37 degrees Celsius at Dimla while today's minimum temperature 24 degrees Celsius was recorded at Bandarban.
The sun sets at 06:41pm today and rises at 05:11am tomorrow in the capital.
