RAJSHAHI, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today directed the authorities concerned to strengthen security of the prisons and keep away from corruption.
He urged the newly trained deputy jailors and jail wardens to discharge their duties with utmost competence, sincerity and honesty to attain the cherished goal.
Home Adviser Jahangir Alam came up with the instruction while addressing the passing out ceremony of the 14th batch of deputy jailor and the 62nd batch of jail wardens at Rajshahi Jail Training Academy here as chief guest.
Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General Syed Muhammad Motahar Hussain, Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range Muhammad Shahjahan, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Muhammad Abu Sufiyan, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Afia Akhter and Superintendent of Police Farjana Islam, among others, were present on the occasion.
A total of 18 deputy jailors and 508 jail wardens took part in the three-month and six-month foundation training respectively.
The home adviser said a new chapter has been created through the July-August students-people anti-discrimination movement, stressing the need for upholding the pride of the jail force with the new spirit.
"You will work for fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the public in general and will prove yourself as peoples' friend and dutiful through your services," he reminded the jail authorities.
Jahangir Alam distributed trophies among the best cadets.
About the push-in through Bangladesh border, the home adviser said there is no security deficit along the border although the number of push-in is rising.
"We have protested the matter as push-in is not the legal way," he said, adding that the foreigners who are staying in Bangladesh illegally will be sent to their country through proper channels.
