Dhaka city corporations assure of disposing waste within 12hrs: Jahangir

DHAKA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) – Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said the waste of the sacrificial animals will be cleared within 12 hours during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival.
 
“The administrators of the two Dhaka city corporations assured us of clearing the waste of the sacrificial animals by 12 hours,” he said after a meeting on better management of the cattle markets and rawhide selling in his ministry office at Bangladesh Secretariat here.
 
The Home Adviser asked all concerned to clear the waste of the animals at the quickest possible time.
 
He said 90 to 95 percent of sacrificial animals used to be slaughtered on the Eid day and the remaining others in the next two days.
 
The two city corporations of Dhaka have taken all possible measures to clear the wastes as soon as possible.
 
Speaking to journalists after attending the meeting, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Azaz said they have already instructed all concerned to remain ready to clean waste of the sacrificial animals as early as possible.
 
He also said the landfills where the waste will be disposed of on the three days of Eid are ready, adding that he had already visited the landfills.
 
The DNCC administrator said they will also give overtime to the drivers of the waste carrying vehicles and stimulus to the cleaners for working extra hours.
