DHAKA, May 24, 2024 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain today said BNP believes that the interim government under the leadership of Prof Dr. Muhammad Yunus will be successful as the people will support them.

"The people and political parties are supporting the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus. But those who try to make him controversial in various ways, there is still time to pull the reins. Do not try to make politicians and political parties your opponents," he said.

The BNP leader made the remarks while taking part a discussion titled 'Current Politics and National Parliament Elections' organized by Agnisena Social Foundation here.

Zahid said everyone should not try to deny the continuity of history as there is true heroism in acknowledging whatever contribution someone made. 

Pointing to the National Citizens Party (NCP), he said, "You don't trust the law and courts. When the law and courts are in your favor, you are happy. And when they are against you, you post various negative statuses on Facebook."

He also said, "The Bangladesh Army is our pride. They proved it in last July-August. If you try to make the army controversial, you will make controversial yourself."
Agnisena Social Foundation Chairman Talukder Zahirul Haque Tuhin chaired the event while BNP Vice-Chairman Advocate Zainul Abedin joined it.
