DHAKA, Nov 11, 2021 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Md Murad Hassan today called upon the law enforcement agencies to play a more vigilant, smart and active role in the ongoing Union Parishad elections to check untoward situation and violence.
He also urged all, including Awami League leaders and activists, not to get involved in any clash over the UP elections.
“What loss will be caused if none (no AL man) is elected? I call upon all, particularly the AL leaders and workers, not to get involved in clashes (over the UP elections), Murad told reporters at the Secretariat here.
In response to a question about the law and order situation during the ongoing UP elections, he said the things happening over the local government elections are not acceptable at all.
“The Prime Minister (Sheikh Hasina) is not in the country but the elections are being held here. What is our responsibility to the elections? What are we doing? We should be more tolerant to this end,” he said.
This is not the political culture of Bangladesh Awami League while this is not the philosophy of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the state minister said.
“The country’s people are living peacefully. We have to perform our responsibilities properly to maintain peace and stability in the country,” he said.
