DHAKA, May 22, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted that light to moderate rain or thunder showers likely to occur in different parts of the country for the next 24 hours beginning this morning.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions and at one or two places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions", the forecast added.
Trough of low lies over West Bengal to North Bay across Southwestern part of Bangladesh. Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Akyab coast of Myanmar and conditions are favourable for further advancement.
A low-pressure area is likely to form over South Bay by 26th May 2025.
Mild heat wave is sweeping over Madaripur, Pabna, Khulna, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia and Satkhira and it may continue.
Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 37.4 degrees celsius at Jashore and minimum temperature today recorded 21.8 degrees celsius at Srimangal.
Country's highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 110 millimeters (mm) at Sylhet.
The sun will set in Dhaka at 06:38 pm today and rise at 5:13 am tomorrow.
