DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - Biman Bangladesh Airlines has issued a public
alert urging passengers to remain vigilant against fraudulent activities
being carried out online in the name of the national flag carrier and its
officials.

In a statement, Biman said a group of fraudsters has been deceiving
unsuspecting customers by falsely identifying themselves as Biman officials
or authorized agents.

These individuals are contacting passengers through various unofficial mobile
numbers and online platforms, promising travel-related services and
collecting money through mobile banking and fake bank accounts.

The fraudsters typically lure passengers by sharing fake booking
confirmations or PNR (Passenger Name Record) numbers without issuing
legitimate tickets, which eventually results in financial losses for the
victims.

"Many customers are unaware that PNR and air tickets are not the same," Biman
said, clarifying that a PNR only confirms a booking but does not guarantee
travel unless a valid ticket is issued.

The airline emphasized that a confirmed ticket issued by Biman or an
authorized agent is essential for travel. "Creating a PNR without ticket
issuance does not confirm a booking or the right to travel," the statement
read.

To ensure authenticity, passengers have been advised to verify any booking or
ticket information through Biman's official website, nearest sales office, or
the airline's call center at 13636.

Biman identified several mobile numbers and bank accounts currently being
used by fraudsters, including 01749881978 and 01322878863, as well as bank
accounts with Islami Bank (A/C No. 20503100201880211) and First Security
Islami Bank (A/C No. 013914300000215).

The airline has strongly recommended that tickets be purchased only from
Biman's authorized sales offices, the official website, call center, or
accredited IATA travel agents.

Passengers who suspect they have been defrauded have been encouraged to
immediately report the incident to the nearest police station for legal
action.
