Shadow UN conference begins at DU on May 29

DHAKA, May 19, 2025 (BSS) - The twelfth session of the shadow United Nations conference will start on May 29 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of Dhaka University (DU) arranged by Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA).

The official theme for this year's conference is "The Rule of Law Amidst Global Paradigm Shifts: Ensuring Justice, Equality, and Accountability."

This theme underscores the conference's dedication to involving young people in significant discussions about international justice, legal structures, and the changing challenges to global governance. DUNMUN 2025 anticipates the participation of over 500 students from educational institutions both in Bangladesh and internationally.

The four-day conference will end on June 1.
The announcement for the upcoming conference was made today at a press conference held at the Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA) office.

Speaking at the event, Nawshin Fatmi, Secretary General of DUNMUN, said, "Through this conference, we aim to empower youth to become advocates for justice, equality, and accountability on the world stage."

The participating young individuals will be divided into 11 committees, where they will simulate the roles of international delegates to debate critical global issues and propose practical solutions.
