DHAKA, May 5, 2025 (BSS) – Eighteen individuals were rescued alive from a 10-storey building Capital Siraj Centre Shopping Mall that caught fire this evening and the blaze was brought under control. 

The fire originated on the basement of the building around 6:47pm today and was brought under control with one hour of frantic efforts of nine fire fighting engines around 7:47pm, media officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Talha bin Zasim told BSS. 

“We have rescued 18 persons including nine women, two children and seven men from the building,” he said.

The cause behind the fire and extent of damage could not be known immediately, he said.
