
DHAKA, Nov 7, 2021 (BSS) - President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina, in separate messages, today greeted all concerned on the
occasion of the 51st Founding Anniversary of Institution of Diploma Engineers
Bangladesh (IDEB) and People's Engineering Day-2021 to be celebrated
tomorrow.
This year's theme of the day is "Education based on modern knowledge and
workforce in building prosperous non-communal country."
In a message on the eve of the occasion, President Md Abdul Hamid said
this year's theme of the IDEB's founding anniversary is very time-befitting.
He said there is no alternative but to skilled human resource for
development and after the independence, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman realized it and emphasized on technical and vocational
education.
"No country and nation can go ahead without flourishing creative talent and
innovative knowledge," he said, adding that so the government has given
importance to modern technology based technical and vocation education.
The President said the members of IDEB will have to play effective role to
ensure the use of technologies for the benefits of the people.
Main theme of Bangabandhu's ideology was to ensure harmony and coexistence
of people irrespective of caste, creed and race, he said and hoped that the
engineers of IDEB would keep themselves engaged in building non-communal
Bangladesh upholding the ideology of Bangabandhu and spirit of the Liberation
War.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was against colonial based education system
and he wanted a modern technology based education system to build 'Sonar
Bangla'.
She said following the path of Bangabandhu, the Awami League government has
targeted to increase enrollment rate of students in technical and vocational
education to 50 percent for bringing this education system in the main stream
education. The government has also established a number of new polytechnic
institutes in the country in this regard, she added.
The premier said engineers of IDEB are playing important role in
implementation of large projects such as mega Padma Bridge, Karnaphuli
tunnel, metro rail, four-lane roads, elevated expressway and economic zones
in the country.
"We've been taking and implementing multidimensional programmes to build a
prosperous and developed Bangladesh by 2041 to fulfill the dream of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu," she added.
Both the President and the Prime Minister wished the success of all the
programmes of People's Engineering Day-2021.
