
DHAKA, Oct 31, 2021 (BSS) - The authorities of Bangladesh University of
Engineering and Technology (BUET) is going to reopen its dormitories for
under-graduate students from November 10 after more than a one-and-a-half-
year closure.
Shahid Smriti Hall, dedicated for the students of post graduation, will be
reopened later, said Dr Mizanur Rahman, Director of Student Welfare of the
university.
All the undergraduate students will be allowed to board their rooms on the
conditions of receiving at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, he added.
Mizan said about 82 percent students have already received single dose of
Covid-19 vaccine while 68 percent have received both doses. A temporary
Covid-19 vaccine campaign will be held on the campus shortly to vaccinate all
students, he added.
Classes will begin from November 13, according to a decision taken at the
academic session review committee's meeting held today with, Vice-Chancellor
Professor Satya Prasad Majumder in the chair.
A lot of innovation and repairing activities have been done in the
dormitories top welcome back the students as its being reopened after a long,
Professor Majumder told BSS.
Canteens, dining rooms, reading room, mosque and washrooms of the dorms
have been renovated, he added. After entering the halls, students must follow
the health guidelines, wear masks and maintain social distance, he added.
