DHAKA, Nov 30, 2024 (BSS)- Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum today laid emphasis on building awareness among people on prevention of diseases to stay healthy.
“Building awareness about prevention among people is required to escape disease and stay healthy,” she said.
The advisor said this while addressing the opening ceremony of a scientific seminar at the National Institute of Neuro Sciences and Hospital (NINH) in city’s Agargoan.
Society of Neurologist of Bangladesh organized the seminar on the occasion of World Movement Disorders Day, said a PID handout.
Referring to the services provided by the country’s medical persons during Covid-19, the advisor said, nobody went abroad at that time rather taken treatment in the country.
“As they could handle such a major disaster, it can easily be expected that they will be able to deal with any disaster as well,” she noted.
Regarding the training of doctors, Nurjahan Begum said, "I would be very happy if we could have arranged training for doctors so that they can use the education for the welfare of the people.
“I think the training period for doctors should be increased and all the subjects should be included in the training programme so that they can learn practically,” Nurjahan said.
She stressed the need of conducting research on dementia and movement disorders.
The inaugural session was presided over by convener of the Society of Neurologists of Bangladesh Professor Dr M A Hannan.
DGHS Director General Professor Dr Md Abu Zafar, NINH Director Professor Dr Quazi Deen Mohammad, and Member Secretary of Society of Neurologists of Bangladesh Dr Mohammad Nazmul Huda, among others, spoke on the occasion.
