Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony: Rangpur Mayor

RANGPUR, Oct 12, 2021 (BSS) - Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman
Mostafa has said Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony for time
immemorial and no evil force would be allowed to destroy communal
peace prevailing in the country.

“The prevailing communal harmony glorifies Bangladesh in the world
arena,” Mostafa said this while distributing Taka 12 lakh as grants
among 156 Puja mandap authorities at a function here on Monday
afternoon as the chief guest.

Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) organised the function at its
conference room abiding by the health directives in wake of the
Covid-19 pandemic.

The Mayor distributed cheques of Taka 7,692 as grant among the
authorities of each of the 156 Puja mandaps erected in the city to
assist the Sanaton community in celebrating their greatest religious
festival of Durga Puja.

With Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Md Ruhul Amin Miah in the chair,
Convener of Rangpur city unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad
(BPUP) Shree Bhabotosh Sarker Bachchu, its Member-secretary Advocate
Prashant Kumar Roy and social worker Shree Ramakrishna Somani attended
the function as special guests.

Chief Accounts Officer of RpCC Md Habibur Rahman, its Administrative
Officer Md Nayeem Ul Haque, City Councilors and Presidents and General
Secretaries of 156 Puja mandaps erected in the city were present.

Mayor Mostafa greeted the Sanaton community on the occasion of Durga
Puja and wished a very happy celebration of the five-day festivity in
the city as elsewhere in the country and the world as a whole.

He said people of different faiths, castes, creeds and religions have
been living together on Bangladesh soil in peace, harmony and friendly
environment setting up a glaring example of brotherhood globally.

“The Durga Puja festival has further cemented the peaceful communal
coexistence and strengthened brotherhood among the people of all
faiths in Bangladesh," he said.
