SM Sultan boat race held in Narail

   NARAIL, Oct 2, 2021 (BSS) - On the occasion of World Tourism Day, 
traditional SM Sultan boat race was held on Chitra river in the district town 
of Narail at 3:00 pm today in a festive atmosphere.

   A total of 16 boats from different places of Jashore, Khulna and Narail 
districts participated in the boat race.

   Hundreds of people including men, women and children gathered at the two 
sides of the Chitra river to see the boat race.

   Narail district administration organised the traditional boat race.

   The boat race began at Narail Old Ferry Ghat's Sheikh Russel Bridge at 
noon and ended at Machhmadia SM Sultan Chitra Bridge, three and a half km long 
distance. 

   State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Mahbub Ali, MP, 
inaugurated the boat race as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the 
winners.

  Among others, MP of Narail-2 constituency Mashrafe Bin Mortuza, Secretary 
of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mokammel Hossain, Chief 
Executive Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board Md Jabed Ahmed, Khulna 
Divisional Commissioner Md Ismail Hossain, Superintendent of Police Prabir 
Kumar Roy, District Council Chairman Advocate Sohrab Hossain Biswas, District 
Awami League President Advocate Subash Chandra Bose, General Secretary Nizam 
Uddin Khan Nilu, Boat Race general secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku, Narail 
Municipal Mayor Anjuman Ara were present as specials guests. 

  Deputy Commissioner of Narail, Md Habibur Rahman presided over the 
function.
