RAJSHAHI, June 16, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 1,400 Imams, Khatibs, Muezzins, Khadems and Hafezs of various mosques in the city were given financial assistance as Eid greetings to help them for celebrating the holy Eid-ul-Azha festival.
 
Like the previous couple of years, each of them was given Taka 1,500 like the previous years.
 
Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton formally distributed the financial assistance at the city bhaban conference room here today.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to ensure food security to the jobless and other poverty-stricken people.
 
Many poor, helpless and distressed people in Rajshahi city were also given financial suport for helping them to celebrate the joy of Eid festival.
 
He urged all development and volunteer organisations to stand beside the distressed people.
 
Adviser of Ulema Welfare Council Prof Barkullah Bin Durul Huda, former president Ayub Ali, Vice-president Mawlana Abdul Kader, Mufti Abdus Sabur Siraji, Organizing Secretary Shafiqul Islam and Assistant Organizing Secretary Shahadat Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.
