Two killed as truck ploughs into shop in Jashore

BENAPOLE, June 10, 2024 (BSS) - Two people were killed and another was injured when a truck ploughed into a shop on Rajarhat-Chuknagar road in Badhaghat are under Monirampur upazila of Jashore district today.
 
The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahman, 85, son of late Anar Ali, a resident of Bijoyarampur village of Monirampur upazila and Jhantu Mia, 48, resident of Deubhata village under Mirzapur upazila of Tangail district.
 
The accident occurred when a Satkhira-bound goods-laden truck entered into a shop as its driver lost control over the steering around 7am, leaving Abdur Rahman, who was sitting in front of the shop and owner of the truck dead on the spot and injured its driver, saod Shafayat Hossain, station officer of Monirampur Fire Service Station.
 
Fire service personnel recovered the bodies from the spot, he said.
 
The injured man was taken to Monirampur Upazila Health Complex.
 
Legal action is under process in this regard, sub-inspector (SI) of Monirampur Police Station, said.
