MYMENSINGH, May 25, 2024 (BSS) - An elderly man and his wife were killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in front of the Amtali BDR house  under Bhaluka upazila of the district on Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Abbas Ali Dewan, 70, son of Rahman Munsi, and his wife Hajera Khatun,60, of Sakhipur Kalmegha area of ??Tangail district.

The accident occurred in the area when they were going to visit their grandson Lucky Akhtar's house at Amtali area in Bhaluka upazila. On the way, a Shahjalal Paribahan bus ran over them when they were trying to cross the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway road. They died on the spot, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhaluka Police Station Shah Kamal Akanda said.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot, OC said.

A case was filed in this connection, the OC added.
