Nepalese envoy calls on environment minister

DHAKA, May 14 (BSS) - Ambassador of Nepal in Dhaka Ghanshyam Bhandari held a bilateral meeting with Environment, Forest and Climate Change minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury at his secretariat office here today.

 The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in environmental conservation and climate resilience between Nepal and Bangladesh.

During the meeting, the Nepal Ambassador presented an invitation letter of Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi, Minister for Forests and Environment of Nepal, to Environment Minister Saber Chowdhury, to participate in the International Expert Dialogue on Mountains, People, and Climate Change.

The event will be organized by the Government of Nepal in Kathmandu on May 22-23, 2024.

Environment Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury will present a keynote paper at the meeting.

Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury expressed Bangladesh's keen interest in strengthening bilateral ties in the field of environmental conservation.

He emphasized the need for joint research, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building initiatives to address effectively the environmental challenges faced by both countries.

They underscored the shared commitment of both countries to addressing common environmental challenges and foster sustainable development initiatives.

Ambassador Bhandari highlighted Nepal's rich natural heritage and its efforts to promote sustainable development practices.

He emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation in protecting shared ecosystems and addressing transboundary environmental issues.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to exploring concrete avenues for collaboration, including the exchange of best practices, joint research projects, and the facilitation of technical expertise between Nepal and Bangladesh in the areas of environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
