Momen hopes Biman's Dhaka-New York flights to resume in future

NEW YORK, Sept 21, 2021 (BSS) -Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen hoped that Biman Bangladesh Airlines will resume its flight operation on Dhaka-New York route in future.

"We expect that Biman will resume its operation on Dhaka-New York route in future," he said.

The foreign minister said this while briefing newsmen at the Lotte New York Palace here about the Prime Minister's overall engagement in the 76th UNGA and other high-level sideline events.

"The good news is that they have allowed Biman (to land in John F Kennedy Airport, New York on Sunday carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage members). So, I hope Biman is going to start its operation on Dhaka-New York route in future," he said.

Besides, Bangladesh signed an agreement with the Federation Aviation Authority (of the USA), he said, adding, "This is the reason to be optimistic."

He said the flight operation of Biman on Dhaka-New York route has been suspended for years.

Many modern and latest aircrafts have been added to the Biman fleet since Sheikh Hasina assumed in state power, he said.

The foreign minister said the Prime Minister's entourage members left the airport directly by cars without facing any hassle and with due honour.

"Our image has been brightened further due to Sheikh Hasina," he observed.

Momen said: "Once this route of Biman comes into operation, Bangladeshi expatriates in the USA will be very happy."
