RANGPUR, Sept 21, 2021 (BSS) - No Covid-19 related death was recorded
during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today in Rangpur division.
"Earlier, the division witnessed Covid-19 casualty-free day on May 16
last and again no deaths on September 12, 13 and 14 last consecutively,"
Focal Person of the Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr ZA Siddiqui said.
Health officials said the number of casualties remained steady at 1,225
in the division where the Covid-19 situation has been improving consistently
during the last more than one and a half months.
The district-wise break up of the 1,225 fatalities currently stands at
291 in Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 87 in Nilphamari, 66 in Lalmonirhat, 67 in
Kurigram, 248 in Thakurgaon, 323 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha of the
division.
The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the
division.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 54,675 as 50 new
patients were diagnosed after testing 840 samples of Rangpur division at the
daily positivity rate of 5.95 percent on Monday.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 7.06 percent on Sunday, 5.14
percent on Saturday, 7.39 percent on Friday, 3.36 percent on Thursday, 6.29
percent on Wednesday and 6.01 percent on Tuesday last in the division.
"The district-wise break up of total 54,675 patients include 12,345 of
Rangpur, 3,718 of Panchagarh, 4,385 of Nilphamari, 2,724 of Lalmonirhat,
4,617 of Kurigram, 7,467 of Thakurgaon, 14,583 of Dinajpur and 4,836 of
Gaibandha in the division," he added.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said a total of
2,74,610 collected samples were tested till Monday, and of them, 54,675 were
found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 19.91 percent in
the division.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of healed Covid-19
patients reached 51,284 with recovery of 98 more infected patients on Monday
in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 93.80
percent.
The 51,284 recovered patients include 10,656 of Rangpur, 3,410
Panchagarh, 4,281 Nilphamari, 2,590 Lalmonirhat, 4,470 Kurigram, 6,911
Thakurgaon, 14,207 in Dinajpur and 4,759 Gaibandha districts in the division.
Among the 54,675 patients, 132 are undergoing treatments at isolation
units, including 14 critical patients at ICU beds and eight at High
Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 51,284 patients and 1,225 deaths
while 2,034 are remaining in home isolation. "Meanwhile, the number of
citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 25,76,077,
and among them, 15,12,702 got the second dose of the jab till Monday in the
division," Dr Islam said.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged
everyone to abide by the health directives to prevent further spread of the
deadly virus.
