CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Feb 21, 2024 (BSS) - Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day-2024 is being observed in Chapainawabganj with paying rich tribute to the language martyrs.

The day's programmes started with lying of wreaths at the altar of Central Shaheed Minar on the Nawabganj Government College premises at one minute past midnight last.

Chapainawabganj district administration, Bangladesh Awami League and its front organisations and other government and non-government organisations laid the wreaths.

The national flag was hoisted half-mast at all the government and non-government buildings at the sun-rise.

Besides, different educational institutions arranged programmes to mark the day.

The day's other programmes include special prayers at all prayer houses after Zohr prayers and in the afternoon, discussion meeting, prize distribution and cultural function at Bangabandhu Manch on the Deputy Commissioner's office premises in the afternoon.

Besides, competitions of hand writing, drawing, recitation, essay writing, language-songs and dance with language-songs were held earlier.
