Judgement in arms case against DGHS driver Malek Sept 20

     DHAKA, Sept 13, 2021 (BSS) - A court here today set September 20 to
pronounce judgement in an arms case against Directorate General of Health
Services (DGHS) driver Abdul Malek alias Badal.

     Judge Robiul Alam of Dhaka Additional 3rd Metropolitan Sessions Judge
Court set the date as both the prosecution and defence concluded their
closing arguments today.

     A total of 13 prosecution witnesses were examined by the court in the
case.

     Investigation officer (IO) and sub-inspector Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury of
RAB-1 filed charge-sheet in the case on January 11, 2021, and the court on
February 14 accepted it. The court on April 4 framed charges in the case.

     A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on September 20, 2020, arrested
Malek for his involvement in businesses of illegal arms, fake notes and other
illegal activities. RAB at the time recovered a foreign-made pistol, one
magazine, five bullets, fake notes of Taka 1.5 lakh, a laptop and a mobile
phone from his possession.

     RAB-1 inspector Alamgir Hossain later filed the arms case against Malek.
