HABIGANG, Dec 6, 2023 (BSS) - Habiganj Free Day was observed here today amid festivity and enthusiasm.

On this day in 1971, the valiant freedom fighters liberated Habiganj by defeating the Pakistani occupation forces.

On the occasion of the historic day, the district administration and the district Muktijoddha Sangsad unit command organized a day-long programme in the district.

Under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Debi Chandra and former Deputy Commander of the Freedom Fighter unit Command Gauprasad Roy, tributes were paid by placing wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman this morning.

Marking the day, a colorful rally was brought out from the district administration office premises which paraded the important streets of the district town and ended coming at the same place this morning.

 
After the rally, a discussion was held on the occasion at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner Office.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Debi Chandr, former Deputy Commander of the Freedom Fighter Unit Command Gauprasad Roy, Commander of Sadar Upazila Freedom Fighter unit Abdul Shahid and Freedom Fighter Abdur Rahman, among others, spoke.
