DHAKA, Dec 1, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) have urged the nomination board of Awami League (AL) to cancel nomination of Mustafizur Rahman Chowdhury from Chattogram-16 (Banshkhali) constituency in the general polls for insulting journalists.

BFUJ President Omar Faruque and Secretary General Dip Azad, CUJ President Tapan Chakraborty and General Secretary M Shamsul Islam made the urge in a joint statement today.

The journalist leaders said no one is safe to a man who possesses the audacity to raise his hand at journalists as he was questioned about violation of the code of conduct ahead of elections.

They also sought intervention from the Election Commission (EC) for taking appropriate action against him (Mustafizur Rahman Chowdhury) over the attack on journalists.
